3. What would you like to tell our audience about your organization?‍ ‍At Goodwin Learning Academy, we believe every student deserves access to an education designed around their individual needs—not a one-size-fits-all model. Our approach combines individualized instruction, small-group learning, social-emotional development, communication support, and practical classroom-readiness skills. We also value collaboration. Families, educators, ABA providers, and other support professionals each bring important insight to a student’s success. By keeping goals aligned and communication consistent across home, school, and clinical settings, we can help students practice skills in meaningful ways and make progress that carries into everyday life.

4. What motivates you to support the autism community? I have a twin brother with Autism which landed me in this field. I have a personal connection to this community and the need for a safe, understanding, and positive school experience. As an organization, we are motivated by the opportunity to help autistic students be understood, supported, and empowered. Autism is not a limitation on a child’s potential; every student has strengths, interests, preferences, and a unique way of experiencing the world.
   
   Our work is driven by the meaningful moments we see every day: a student communicating a need, participating in a group activity, mastering an academic skill, navigating a transition with more confidence, or discovering pride in something they once found difficult. Those milestones—large and small—matter. We are committed to creating spaces where students can learn without being expected to fit into a system that was not designed for them.

5. What advice would you give to someone new to their autism journey?‍ ‍If you are new to the autism journey, as a self-advocate, parent, caregiver, or someone supporting a child, start by giving yourself permission not to have every answer right away. Learning about autism, identifying the right supports, and understanding what works best can take time.

   Focus on the individual, not just a diagnosis. Learn what brings joy, what causes stress, what supports communication, and what helps the person feel safe and successful.
   
   Celebrate progress in all forms. Growth may look different for every student, and small steps can lead to meaningful long-term change.
   
   Ask questions and advocate. You know yourself or your child best, and it is okay to seek clarification, request support, or look for a better fit when something is not working.
   
   Build a team you trust. Support is strongest when families, educators, therapists, and students communicate openly and work toward shared goals.
   
   Lead with patience and high expectations. Students deserve both compassion for where they are today and genuine belief in what they can accomplish tomorrow.

Additional information you would like to share: Goodwin Learning Academy serves families throughout Arizona and offers individualized academic programming for students with autism and other learning differences. Our model includes targeted 1:1 instruction, supported small-group learning, functional baseline assessments, individualized learning plans, ongoing progress monitoring, and regular family communication. We also partner with ABA clinics to complement, not replace, therapy services and help students build the academic, social, communication, and independence skills that support classroom success.
